Machu Picchu Adventure with Woz

  • Machu Picchu Adventure with Woz

  • One of the most unforgettable highlights of my global travels was exploring the breathtaking 15th-century Inca citadel of Machu Picchu alongside Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak (Woz).
  • The Expedition (February 2011)

    • This adventure took place as part of the pre/post-cruise land excursions surrounding MacMania 11 (InSightCruise #58) in February 2011, which toured South America and Patagonia. Since the ship cruised around South America, we had these incredible pre-post add-on trips to see Santiago, Iguazu Falls, Cuzco, and Machu Picchu.
    • For this part of the journey, we embarked on an epic overland land excursion up into the Andes of Peru to see Machu Picchu—a mountain ridge 7,970 feet above sea level.
  • Exploring the Inca Citadel

    • Wandering through the dry-stone palaces, temples, and terraced slopes with Woz was an absolute joy. Woz's childlike wonder, insatiable curiosity, and famous warmth made the experience incredibly special.
    • We admired the astonishing precision of the ashlar masonry—where giant granite stones were cut and fitted together so tightly without mortar that even a knife blade cannot slide between them.
    • Exploring this magnificent archaeological monument remains one of my favorite memories from all my South American voyages.
