Chess Moves 2 Cruise
- Chess Moves 2 Cruise (August 19 – August 26, 2006) was the second dedicated chess-themed educational voyage organized by Geek Cruises (Insight Cruises), sailing to Alaska aboard Holland America's M.S. Oosterdam.
Program & Curriculum
- The cruise offered parallel chess training tracks tailored to various skill levels from beginners to 1900+ rated players.
- Featured seminars on opening theory (such as the Sicilian Defense), tactics, middlegame strategy, and endgame play.
- Guided by a high-caliber chess faculty including current U.S. Champion GM Alex Onischuk, three-time U.S. Champion Larry Christiansen, GM Susan Polgar, GM Alex Stripunsky, and FM Paul Truong.
Key Itinerary & Excursions
- Departed from Seattle, Washington, cruising the Queen Charlotte Islands.
- Visited Juneau, Sitka, and Ketchikan, Alaska, as well as Victoria, British Columbia.
- Cruised the majestic Hubbard Glacier for on-deck scenic photography sessions.
