Panama Canal

  • Panama Canal

  • The Panama Canal is a historic and world-renowned 82 km artificial waterway in Panama that connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific Ocean.
  • Over my years coordinating and presenting on Geek Cruises, I transited through the northern (Atlantic-facing) Gatun Locks of the Panama Canal on three separate voyages, capturing the engineering marvels of the locks, ship transits, and Gatun Lake.
  • Three Historic Transits & Photo Archives

    • November 2007 (MacMania 7 - Day 7):
      • Entered the Gatun locks in the morning, parked for several hours inside Gatun Lake, and made a brief stop in Colon, captured in Flickr album 2007-11 MacMania 7 - Day 7.
    • February 2009 (Bright Horizons 3 - Day 07):
    • December 2010 (Cosmic Trails):
      • A transit of the northern (Atlantic-facing) locks of the Panama Canal near Gatun, capturing high-quality shots using the Canon 7D and Canon SD4000IS, captured in Flickr album 2010-12 Cosmic Trails - Panama Canal.
