Airport Gate Change Exhaustion

  • Airport Gate Change Exhaustion

  • While recovering from my recent major medical incident (my 2016 ICU stay and subsequent rehabilitation), I traveled through the airport without requesting a wheelchair.
  • Although I was sore upon arrival at the gate, I planned to rest. However, a last-minute gate change required me to walk to a new gate.
  • Because I could not walk as fast as other passengers, all chairs at the new gate were taken by the time I arrived, forcing me to stand for an extra 20 minutes.
  • The extra exertion caused severe knee and leg pain, highlighting that while I was recovering well enough for 3,000 steps a day, 6,000-step Travel days pushed my muscles to their absolute limits.
These facts are as Randal recalls them, but much time has passed for most of this. If you find a factual error, please email realmerlyn@gmail.com.
