Locohost Hostname Typo
- The origin story behind Randal's long-standing tradition of naming his computer hostnames and mobile devices "locohost" and "loco" variants.
The Typo
- On July 16, 2022, I noted the origin of my laptop's hostname: "locohost".
- It originally started as a simple typo when setting up one of my very first laptops (intending to type "localhost").
- I liked the character of it so much that I kept it, and it became a permanent naming scheme for my subsequent machines.
- Similarly, I named my smartphones after it, including "loco6" (iPhone 6) and "loco8p" (iPhone 8 Plus).
