Magic Act Stooge on a Cruise

The Magic Show

• On one of my many cruises, I was sitting in the front row of the entertainment, which was a stage magic act.
• I explained to my companion that I knew a bit about stage magic, and that at some point, the magician would bring the house lights up and pick a "stooge" from the audience (a partner placed there to help with the tricks).
• Right after I explained this, the magician called for the house lights, looked around, and picked me to come on stage.
• My companion immediately blurted out: "Oh, so you're the stooge!"
• No amount of explaining would convince her otherwise.
• It was a fun experience anyway—I participated in a bullet trick and swung the prop gun around wildly, knowing the mechanics made it safe.
