Keith Lofstrom
- Keith Lofstrom is an integrated circuit designer, space systems theorist, and longtime friend of Randal Schwartz in the Oregon technology and open-source communities.
Crossing the Hallway at Intel
- In late 1989, when the BiiN joint venture shut down and laid off contractors, Keith was working on the Intel side of the same building in Hillsboro, Oregon.
- As Randal was leaving on his final day at BiiN, he met Keith in the corridor. Keith famously said, "Hey, we're hiring!"βenabling Randal to start the very next week as system administrator on Intel's cutting-edge iWarp supercomputer project.
Technology & Vision
- Keith is internationally recognized for proposing the Launch Loop (often called the Lofstrom Loop), an active structure system for low-cost space launch systems.
- Active participant alongside Randal in the Portland Linux/Perl community (PLUG, PDX.pm).
