  • The Near Misses

    • During a hectic work trip many years ago, I was coding in Florida's Space Coast and had to leave for the airport just two hours before a Space Shuttle launch.
    • I flew directly to Anchorage, Alaska, to teach a Perl class. My stay was in the official hotel of the Iditarod, but I flew out the morning before the race began.
    • I frequently joke that I'm glad I did not continue immediately to New Orleans the week after Mardi Gras.
