Shattered Cockpit Window Flight Diversion

  • Shattered Cockpit Window Flight Diversion

  • A Travel anecdote about an emergency flight diversion caused by a shattered cockpit window.
  • The shattered glass

    • Following a news report of a United flight suffering a smashed-out pilot window from a weather balloon, I was reminded of a flight I took years ago.
    • I was flying from LAX (Los Angeles) to PDX (Portland) when our aircraft was forced to immediately divert to SFO (San Francisco) because the right-pilot-seat window shattered mid-flight.
    • I am not entirely sure whether the flight was operated by Alaska Airlines or Delta Air Lines, but it was one of the two.
