My Tijuana Apartment & The Border-Crossing Life

• For a period, I maintained a personal apartment in Tijuana, allowing me to enjoy a unique cross-border lifestyle.
• The San Diego roundtrip cruises (such as the Mexican Riviera voyages of Geek Cruises departing from San Diego) were especially convenient for this setup.
• It allowed me to spend a relaxing week or more adjacent to the cruise living in my Tijuana apartment, working, and soaking in the local Baja culture before simply crossing the border to board the ship at the San Diego cruise terminal.
• This cross-border arrangement blended the convenience of Southern California with the rich culture and vibrant life of Mexico, serving as a perfect base for many of my travels.
• I was typically only at the Tijuana place for one or two weeks a month. To make the most of the space, my friend Ed Tuttle (who worked in San Diego during the week) would spend every weekend "down south" at the apartment. When I was in town on weekends, we enjoyed great quality time together; when I was away, Ed got to enjoy peaceful, isolated weekends to recharge.
