• I sailed on four Apple-themed Geek Cruises with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.
• On one of those voyages, Woz met his future wife, Janet Hill, and I was right there aboard the ship watching their love story begin (see Steve Wozniak Meets Janet Hill).
• Later on, Woz invited me to join him in his personal courtside floor seats at a Golden State Warriors NBA game.

Sailing with Linus Torvalds and Git Day Two

• On other Geek Cruises, I sailed with Linus Torvalds. We spent days talking technology, sharing beers, and building a lasting friendship at sea.
• That relationship directly connected to computing history in April 2005: when the BitKeeper licensing agreement collapsed and Linus sat down to write a brand-new distributed version control system from scratch, I joined the developer mailing list on Day Two of Git.
• I spent years testing early snapshots on non-Linux platforms (macOS and OpenBSD), writing utility scripts, submitting feedback, and traveling the world as one of Git's earliest champions and corporate instructors.
