ORGANIZATION
OSCON
- OSCON (O'Reilly Open Source Convention) was a significant event in the open-source community that ran from 1999 to 2019. It grew out of The Perl Conference to become a venue for major announcements and a gathering place for the entire open-source world.
My Involvement
- I was a fixture at OSCON, having attended every conference since its beginning as The Perl Conference.
- My company, Stonehenge Consulting Services, Inc., was famous for hosting the biggest parties at the event for many years, making them a central part of the social fabric of the conference.
- At one of these famous OSCON parties, I invited Linus Torvalds, who showed up and played pool, leading to a friendly invitation for me to play pool at Linus's home. See Pool Games at Linus House.
